Modeling Tips From April Kristine  -  POSTURE

Welcome to my site Here you will find a lot of useful information about all types of modeling... I will share a few tips that I have picked up - either by experience or reading.  This month I will share a little about posute.  Models are required to hold poses for long amounts of time. These poses may be uncomfortable but experience is one of the factors that helps you out in situations like these. 

Benefits of Good Poise...

Many photographers and businesses are looking for models that will make their products look appealing, and they will look for models with good poise. Practice is the key to developing good posture consistently, which also has many benefits too! Some of the healthful benefits of good poise include helping your organs function properly and more efficiently. Also, will your clothes will look better because clothes hang nicely on people with good poise.

Posture Tips
  • Keep your neck and ears over your shoulders, this will help you keep your neck and back straight.
  • Hold your stomach in so that it doesn't bulge out.
  • Glance down only with your eyes so that others will not notice when you are glancing down.
  • Keeping your chin parallel to the floor will help you to not look at the floor.
  • Keep your torso directly underneath your shoulders, and relax your arms gently at your side.

Bigger Muscles in Photos with Baby Oil Highlights.  To make male models seem as muscular as possible, photographers sometimes add baby oil to crevices of abdominal and pectoral muscles to make these muscles seem as defined as possible for the camera.   Baby oil should not be applied all over the body - only lightly in the crevices of the muscles to catch the light.
Get permission from your parents. If you're a minor, you must have your parents' permission in order to get into modeling. Otherwise you have to wait until you're 18 or become emancipated from them. Talk to your parents about your goals and help them to understand your position. Encourage them to be a part of your dream and ask their opinion.
How to Pose with a Male Model .
Just as male models should learn how to pose with the opposite sex, the same goes for female models.  This is not a time to be shy or timid. Good female models know how to get amazing shots while posing with a male model.  Don't be afraid to look him in the eye.  Eye contact shows intimacy and when the camera captures that, it's magic.
